New OffShore Wind Career Module Launched!

In late 2023, STEAM the Streets received an Offshore Wind Works grant from the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center to apply its proven model of educating and inspiring students to the growing field of Offshore Wind.

Since then, our team has been working to produce highly engaging content to raise awareness and interest about the multitude of career pathways in Offshore Wind.

Today is the day we release this content to the world.

This includes three videos of varying lengths, career road maps, and first steps folks can take to enter the industry.

Since this field is new to the U.S., we have an opportunity to build a new and diverse pipeline. This series of video content is a big part of assuring that diverse students see the 90+ roles in offshore wind as accessible options for them.

There are two ways to access the content:

  1. Offshore Wind is now the 11th career module in the free STEAM the Streets Mobile App.
  2. STEAMtheStreets.org/wind

This content is a curriculum resource and motivational tool for educators, both traditional and nontraditional. STEAM the Streets’ partner, Benjamin Franklin Cummings Institute of Technology (Boston, MA) will utilize the videos within their Renewable Energy program, as well as for student recruitment.

STEAM the Streets’ Youth Engagement Specialist Angel Diaz breaks down three of the paths to pursue a career in Offshore Wind in the Bridge Lesson episode (a deep dive into the industry).

In addition, the content will be featured in STEAM the Streets school assembly shows, and marketed through social media posts, and engagement events.

Thank you to the following partners who helped make this project happen:  Massachusetts Clean Energy Center, Vineyard Wind, and the Benjamin Franklin Cummings Institute of Technology.
