Amplifying Opportunities: Urgent Call to Support Youth Futures

Richmond, CA – At a time when young people face unprecedented challenges in navigating their futures, STEAM the Streets, in partnership with CoBiz Richmond, is issuing a call to action. On Wednesday, October 30th, community leaders, educators, and workforce decision makers will gather for Amplifying Opportunities, an evening designed to connect, collaborate, and reimagine what’s possible for our youth.

The event will feature a curated program of edutainment, powerful video screenings, music, food, and a chance to network with others committed to uplifting young people. More than just an evening of inspiration, Amplifying Opportunities is about sparking tangible action toward creating accessible career pathways for the next generation.

“Supporting our youth means more than offering guidance and inspiration,” said Contra Costa County Supervisor John Gioia. “It means fighting with love for their career pathways, educational opportunities, and social supports. When we invest in young people, we invest in the future of Richmond and Contra Costa County.”

With workforce disparities and economic barriers continuing to widen, the stakes are high. Amplifying Opportunities is not just another event—it’s a pivotal gathering for those ready to invest in the futures of our young people.

“Now more than ever, it’s critical that we equip young people with the tools  and vision to thrive,” said Ben Gilbarg, Executive Director of STEAM the Streets.

Wesley Alexander, CEO of CoBiz Richmond commented on the urgency of this effort. “In these times, our youth can not afford to be uninformed about emerging career paths that will allow them to sustain their families and stay out of debt.”

Honorary Event Hosts include:  Contra Costa County Supervisor John Gioia, Robín D. Lopez, Mayor of Albany, Shakira Reynolds, Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships – West Contra Costa Public Education Fund, Janay Osborne, Richmond Site Director, Hidden Genius Project, Gina Del Carlo, CEO – Earn and Learn, Kaila Love, The AI Homegirl, and Péllo Walker – Vietnam Combat Vet and Social Justice Warrior.
