2024 IMPACT REPORT
Transforming the Minds and Career Trajectories of Students Traditionally Limited From Access to STEM Career Pathways.
LETTER FROM OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Dear Champion of STEAM the Streets,
2024 was a significant growth year for STEAM the Streets in many ways. We were able to grow our team, our impact, and numbers of youth served.
We’ve been privileged to work on important projects with good people, partnering with like-minded funders, organizations, schools and youth to create a mighty ripple effect. Honing in our hybrid approach of virtual content and in person outreach and education, we expanded our national impact. Through a paid internship program, and community projects we took major steps to building our internal talent pipeline. We were also able to help partners build their pipelines through meeting youth where they are.
OUR PROGRAMS
Inspiring New CAREER Trajectories
Career App, Content and Curriculum
You don’t know what you don’t know, and when you don’t see people that look like you in career fields, your idea of what you can do is limited. STEAM the Streets’ content and curriculum is focused on making career paths more relatable and accessible. When a student has a new found inspiration of what they can be, this is a success for us.

Transforming Students' Trajectories
“This Can Be You,” STEAM the Streets’ flagship in-person program, in combination with our virtual platforms, has enabled our organization to have a potent hybrid impact on the East and West Coast. “This Can Be You” is an immersive multimedia experience that helps student identify with a broad range of potential career paths on their level.

GREENING THE YOUTH
Promoting Career Pathways in Renewable Energy
Renewable Energy, like our youth, is the future, both in application and occupation. With 2.5 trillion dollars in green job workforce investment projected and 5 millions jobs expected over the next 20 years, the time is now to get our youth knowledgeable and excited about the opportunities to sustain the planet and make a living wage.
To this end, STEAM the Streets embarked on two large projects in 2024. Thanks to a grant from the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center, STS developed a series of videos, a learning module and assembly show all dedicated to Offshore Wind career exploration.
In partnership with the Santa Clara County Office of Education, four community organizations, and several youth artists, STEAM the Streets produced the Green Careers Anthem. This grassroots project is dedicated to introducing youth to a variety of green career paths.
“The Green Careers Anthem Outreach Campaign has been transformative for both me and my community. Through this initiative, I’ve gained invaluable skills and insights into sustainable practices, which have empowered me to contribute meaningfully to environmental advocacy. Additionally, the project has fostered a sense of unity and purpose within our community, driving collective efforts toward greener solutions.”

Building Inclusive Pipelines
Applying our model to help with recruiting
Community Colleges are one of California’s treasures, yet sometimes prospective students need to see the results; stories of students who are progressing in these programs and career fields. STEAM the Streets partnered with three community colleges in Contra Costa County to produce a series of videos promoting pathway programs in Health Care, Early Childhood Education, and Public Safety.

Sharing their Stories

There’s a nationwide shortage of school counselors. STEAM the Streets partnered with the Massachusetts Association of School Counselors to produce a recruitment video to help high school and college students see school counseling as a viable career option.
Watch the heartwarming stories shared by counselors and the students that they impact on a daily basis.

“I would recommend STEAM the Streets to any other organizations who are looking to engage and inspire youth around career pathways.”
– Jennifer McGuire, Co-Chair, School Counselors Pipeline Committee, Massachusetts School Counselors Association (MASCA)
Building Our Pipeline
Empowering New Leaders
Workforce pipelines across industries need major help getting new talent engaged. While doing the work to help those efforts, we find it essential to build out our own pipeline of young, creative leaders. STEAM the Streets has built out its own paid internship program, equipping interns from Contra Costa College and Diablo Valley College with skills in curriculum development, video production, and social media management.

“I am grateful for my internship, as it allows me to contribute to a mission I care deeply about. As a student, I would have appreciated having more resources like S.T.S. to explore different careers in a digestible and easy-to-understand way—it would have made that process much smoother.
Now, being able to provide those same resources to students and potentially change their lives is incredibly rewarding.”
– Tashi Samdup, Curriculum Design Intern

“In my time serving as STEAM the Streets’ Social Media Intern, I have not only furthered my experience in content creation and social media management, but I have also gained more familiarity with STEAM, and surrounding fields. STEAM the Streets’ small, yet close-knit team encourages its staff and interns to grow and explore different paths in many ways; I have become more engaged in the world of social media marketing and content creation, and have been inspired by my time at STEAM the Streets to take on social media management as a career path.”
– Asia Butts, Social Media Intern

Media Productions
Additionally, STEAM the Streets produced a media outreach campaign in San Jose, holding workshops in the community to provide young Hip Hop artists with the opportunity to be featured on the “Green Careers Anthem,” a music video promoting green career pathways that are in-demand. Two young leaders emerged from the pack, Sofia Jaquez and Jose Reyna. Aside from being the project’s featured vocal artists, they received mentoring, support, and additional performance opportunities as a result.
